Pronto! Io sono la lucertolina piccola. Oggi abbiamo un Guest Blogger....mio fratello Jon Wallin. Lui voleva scrivere questa prima frase.
That first senctence my brother wrote. It is Italian. Try and figure out what It means.
In the summer my family always go backpacking. We hike about 7 to 10 miles to a lake in the Wind River mountains or a similar place. This means about 5 hours of just walking, walking, walking. Whenever we do this I get incredibly board, so I ask my dad to tell me stories. Sometimes I will give him a subject like, the scarest thing you have ever done, the most trouble you have ever got in, ect. My favorite thing to hear about is how crazy he was in high school. My dad was the coolest guy ever! He owes most of this to his best friend Dave. I have never met Dave even though I know a ton about him. He is the coolest, luckiest, weird guy I have ever not known.
When my dad tells me stories it sounds like Dave came up with all of the ideas and my dad just did it with him. One of the coolest things about Dave and my dad is they Never got caught. Not once did they get into trouble. One story my Dad tells me a lot is their closest call to getting caught. First you have to know about the system his school had back in the 60's of keeping kids from cutting school. It was the card system. Blue cards were the most important. If you missed any school, the next day you would take the blue card to all your classes along with a note from your parents stating why you were absent. Then each teacher would sign the blue card. At the end of the day you 7th period teacher would collect all of the cards and put them on the black board. A girl from the office would come around and collect them during 7th period. Complecated, I know.
Well One day Dave and My dad decided to go golfing during math 7th period. Math was an easy class for them to ditch because the teacher never collect the blue cards. They waited until almost everyone had to class and then they started to leave. Unluckily their math teacher was walking down the hall late to class. "Where are you gentlemen going?" "Oh" Dave replied cooly "I have a dentist appointment. See I have a pink card" This pink card (that Dave had forged) was to excuse him from class. "I'm giving him a ride, he doesn't have a car." my dad quickly replied. "O.K. boys, have a good time" said their teacher with a smirk on his face. They went and golfed had a great time. The next day My dad took some spare blue cards(which you are only supposed to be able to get when you are absent) and told Dave to forge them just in case their teacher asked for them. They weren't worried he hadn't collected any cards all year. It was a good thing they had the blue cards because at the begining of class." I believe you too gentelmen were gone yesterday. Do you have my blue cards" "Yes we have them right here sir." He put them on the board for the girl to come and get them. I wish I could have seen them sweating in their seats. They thought they were dead! Lying, sluffing, and forging blue cards. They waited and waited, but the girls never came to collect the blue cards. The girl stopped coming because Their teacher never put the cards up. They didn't even get in trouble. Even thought that is not a really bad thing that they did, That was the closest they ever got to getting caught.
My dad did a ton of way cooler stuff I just don't have time to tell it all. Once they tied the seminary doors shut. Turning peoples pee green with some chemical they learned about in chemistry, and other awesome stuff. This will be continued next week.

Parents, Who do they think they are?
Of course I wait until the last minute to write my blog. I am just wondering, why is it that the parents are always right? They always get their way. Sure they are older, supposedly wiser, and they do provide for us , but why are we always wrong? My Parents are nice and usually pretty reasonable, but during the summer they got this weird idea that I was leaving my stuff everywhere. I picked up after myself... Most the time, when I didn't have better things to do. Then one Sunday afternoon my dad said that he and my mom wanted to talk to me in the study. I know that all of your parents have places that you have to talk when you are in trouble or you get the " were disappointed in you" talk. Well the study is our place. So we go into the study they sit me down and start talking. "Lizzy we've tried to get you to pick up after yourself, but you still are leaving all of your stuff everywhere." "Who Me?" I responded. "Yes so we have decided that the best way for us to break you of this habit is to charge you 5 dollars for everything of yours that is not in your room or your locker" (my locker is this little cubby that I where I keep my things like coats, shoes, etc.) I wasn't worried this was a empty threat. They had threatened to do this before, just not in a two on one talk situation. "OK" I said "I won't leave my stuff around ever again"
Later that week my mom told me she had collected some of my stuff that I had left lying around. That was a surprise to me! I had not missed anything. I told her “that’s ok mom I don’t really want any of that stuff. I reasoned that if I hadn’t missed it in about a week then I really didn’t need it. She laughed at me and replied “well that’s just too bad isn’t it? That’s not the deal. The deal is us charging you for everytime we pick up something that’s yours.” What I had not realized when we talked the week before was then was that my parents were doing this charging 5 bucks thing a lot like a maid service. They were cleaning up after me and I had to pay them. I was sure as heck mad when I had to pay my Mom and Dad 35 bucks for things like a pair of 3 dollar flip flops. It was a total rip off.It was okay thought because I had a plan. My plan was to just pick up their things when they left them around. This was hard because they never leave anything around! I had to start getting creative. After my mom would come in from shopping she would set her stuff on the counter. I sneakily would go and grab something and put it in a bag. When my Dad was done working in the yard he would take off his boots and leave them on the back porch. I quickly would run and put then in the bag. I thought that I was doing pretty well. The bag was getting really full. The only mistake I made was to wait until they asked if anyone had seen their stuff. They just thought they had misplaced or lost it. They never really asked for it. I had their stuff for about a week and a half before I told them what I had done.
Finally when I told them they were mad! I was in trouble. My Dad had to work in the yard in his tennis shoes all week because he couldn’t find his boots. My Mom Went and bought some new curlers for her hair. She thought she had left the old ones at my cabin. They also refused to pay me. All they said was “when you have kids you can do the same thing to them, but you can’t do that to your parents.” I was so mad! That was an injustice, it was totally unfair. The most unfair thing about it was the more I fought my point the more trouble I got in. No Matter what you do the parent is always right. You can never win and it’s always two against one. Well I guess that’s life. Life is not fair. That is another one of my parent’s favorite sayings. Well I guess it’s true, Life isn’t fair, and it never will be.
