I was thinking about what a big affect our parents have on us. It is amazing how much people are like their parents. I have 6 older brothers and sisters, so I have seen that as they grow older they become more alike my mom and dad. Some of them more than others.
It is our parents who teach us our first values and standards. They teach us what is right and wrong. If their standards are low or their values bad, most likely ours will be too. There are some people I know and their dad thinks that it is ok to lie a little bit, or ok to watch bad movies and do sorta bad things. Because of their dad, these people are not very happy. I have watched my friend's life go downhill. I can no longer trust her, or be happy when I am around her. When we talk I feel so sad about what she has got herself into. She thinks that if she is pretty enough, and has enough clothes that she will be happy. She is caught up in so many lies and problems that it makes me hurt to think about it. This friend has lied to me, stolen my things, and behaved in outrageous ways. This would not have happened if her dad had not taught her that it is ok. I have heard him tell her to lie to her mom, or lie to get out of trouble. He will do things that are not right. This shows her that it is ok to do things that are not right. We trust our parents, and we trust them to make good decisions. If they make bad decisions or do bad things we will most likely do the same.
On a different note I think that parents can be totally unfair and unreasonable. They will punish us for something that we had no control over. For example, my friend Melissa's dad came to pick her up from my house one night after we were hanging out. When he rang the doorbell nobody answered because we were in the backyard, and my mom was asleep. Melissa couldn't help it that my mom was asleep, when we expected her to come and get us. Melissa got grounded for a week and had to walk home from school. First of all, this wasn't exactly her fault. Secondly this punishment was seriously way too harsh.
Just now my mom and dad are getting mad at me for using the computer. I am using it way too long and they want to check their email. The thing is that if I was to not do this and get kicked out of Honors English they would be super mad. I get in trouble both ways. Every time that I have to do my honors English stuff I literally have to fight someone for the computer. If not my parents my brother if not him then it is my sister. It is really annoying. Parents are great, and I'm glad that I have great parents, but sometimes they can be a pain.

Running!
This year I am running with the Davis high school cross country team. It is the coolest thing I have ever done. The usual response to me telling someone that I run and train daily is " I hate running," or "I could never do that. Nobody in my family runs." Maybe they will even admit "I ran the mile in gym in over eleven minutes." Well all of you who say things like this are very dumb and incredibly stupid.
"I hate running." when people say this what do they mean? They could at least go into some detail, saying that they hate it when they are running and their whole body hurts and all they want to do is stop because they can't breathe and they feel like they are going to see their breakfast any minute. If they said that, I would feel respect for this person, because first this showed that they have actually run before. Second they pushed themselves while running. When someone tells me that they hate running I ask them if they have ever run before. One response (that I usually get from guys) is them telling me how amazingly good they are, "Yeah, last year in gym I ran a 5 minute mile." Or, "In 5th grade on field day I beat everyone in everything." This makes me laugh because it is such a lie. Why do people have to lie about something like this? It is not like they think I believe them. You can always tell if it is a lie because after they tell me this they will say something like, "You don't believe me do you?" "No I really do." "No you don't." "Yes I do." It is really very dumb. My favorite reply to someone hating running is that they are just lazy. I like to say this, because it is true! Everyone could run if they ran and trained every day. If you would just run 30 minutes a day you could easily race in a 5 K.
I think that some people who try running in track or cross country expect it to be easy. It is not easy at all. It takes tons of hard work and determination. I remember one of our workouts in cross country was murder. It was a boiling hot day, I hadn't been drinking a lot of water and I was grumpy. We ran down to this park about 1 1/2 miles from the school. When we got there our coach told us that we were going to be running 400 meter sprints. I wasn't too discouraged until he told us that we would be running 12 of them! We also had a time limit of under 1:50 min. I was lucky I was in the slower group; the higher groups had to run them in 70-80 seconds. While I was running I was thinking to myself, why do I even do this? I am killing myself and for what? It was so hard, but it seemed like the more I ran, the easier it got. After running back to the school we all felt so accomplished. It was a little like getting an A on a Math test that you had studied super hard for. Running not only make you physically fit but it makes you feel good about yourself. It taught me that it is important to keep doing something even though I am not the best one there. It is like anything that you would do in life. If you quit after the first week of pain and suffering, then you'll never know what it felt like to finish a race, or incredibly hard workout. Running is the best!

Leaving the kids behind
I come from a family of eight children. My parents have always been very busy. I am the 7th child so I did not experience all of the chaos, since now there are only 2 of us at home. When I think about things that have happened to my family I am amazed that all of us are still alive.
My brother Spencer (the 6th child) is the most famous for getting lost or being left behind. When he was about 3 years old (I wasn't born yet) my whole my family went to Park City for the day, entertaining a girl from France. They were in a mall getting something to eat. Spencer and Jon were playing with the escalator. Suddenly Jon yelled "Dad! Spencer pushed that button and made the escalator stop working." "Well, the people who work at the mall will have to take care of it, right now we have to go" replied my dad. On the drive home everyone was sleeping in our enormous 8-seater Mormon van, so my parents didn't notice that one child was missing. Once they arrived home my Mom noticed that Spencer had not come into the house. "Has anyone seen Spencer?" she asked. "He's most likely still in the car" Said my dad. Spencer however was not in the car. As a matter of fact they could not find him anywhere. "Call the police see if they found him. I know he be alright, they're good people up there, but I can't believe we've left him!" said my mom. My mom called Park City Police and luckily (very luckily) they had my big brother. The first thing the police wanted to know was what my brother’s name was. "All your little boy will tell us it that he is a big boy" Said the policeman. "That is the only thing we can get out of him, I'm a big boy, I'm a big boy," His name is Spencer my relieved and flustered mom said. "I'll be rightup to get him." My brother was retrieved safely, although it might have been against his will. He liked it in the police station where they gave him doughnuts and let him watch cartoons.
A month later my brother was left behind and nobody even noticed. They were camping and had driven to a better fishing lake. They went to the lake and fished and then drove back to their campsite to fix dinner. Once they got back to their campsite my sister said, "Dad I left my shoes back at the lake." "Okay, well we better go and get him." He jumped in the van and drove to the lake again. When they got there some other people who were there said to them, "Did you leave a little boy here?" "No we left a pair of shoes, but not a little boy." replied my dad. Then here came Spencer running out of the trees yelling "that was very wude of you to weave my here" The strangers looked at my dad questioningly and said "Are you sure you didn' t leave a little boy here?" My dad looked at them and laughed. Then he took Spencer and the shoes and drove back to the camp site.
I was even left at a my dance studio when I was 4 years old. My brother was supposed to pick me up after my class was done. Unfortunately he decided to go rock climbing instead. I was left there for almost 3 hours. I finally got the courage to ask the dance teacher if I could use her phone. The funny thing is my anut and Uncle lived across the street, I could have gone to their house if I hadn't been terrified of my Uncle at the time. I was so scared of him because everytime I saw him He made me give him a big kiss. I hated this! I would rather suffer sitting alone at my dance class then have to face a big wet one from him.

Teachers and kids.
I decided to write about teachers after I read that comment on Mr. T's blog from Dominique Wakefield. In her comment she said:
"All students have to worry about is themselves and their homework and such while teachers have to worry about themselves, their students, their classes, their class plans, their families and anything else that could be going on in their lives. I was thinking the other day about how teacher are always so prepared, every single day. It’s like giving a forty-five minute presentation every single day. One of the most important jobs in this country today is teaching. I don't even want to fathom about where we would be as an educated country without it. Teachers should be paid much more for what they do."
All I can say is that you are one lucky girl if all you have to worry about is yourself and you homework. I don't think I have ever met anyone that doesn't have a million things to worry about. You said that teachers have to worry about their classes and their families; well don't students have to worry about that too. It’s not like we don't worry about our families. When a family member is sick or hurt we worry about them. I worry about millions of things. Practicing the piano, practicing voice, worrying about how I will do in my races, worrying that I will get injured, eating right, and studying for a test, finishing that term project, worrying about my family. The list goes on and on!
I think that some kids have it easier than a lot of adults, but a lot of adults have it easier than kids. I have a friend who has to worry about things like enough food for her and her brothers and sisters. She is always worried about her dad going back to jail, or getting in trouble. Students have to worry about a lot too.
One thing that really bugged me is when she said that teachers are always prepared. I do not agree with that at all! A lot of my teachers are not always prepared. Last year in English we spent more than a month (well, that is what it seemed like) listening to Tom Sawyer on a book on tape. All the teacher would do is make us listen and then give us 5 minutes after every chapter to answer some questions. It was the biggest waste of time. She never had to prepare anything. I had English first period, and all I did was study and do other assignments. My class once started clapping when I actually got there on time. That motivated me to come for awhile.
Most teachers don't give 45 minute presentations. They talk for 15 minutes and give you an assignment. They make you read something and give you an assignment. They make you watch a movie then do an assignment. There is also the kind of teacher who just lectures the whole time while you are supposed to take notes. These are the classes that I dread. They are so boring, and pointless. Do you ever remember all of the stuff they are teaching even after you cram for the test? I know I don't.
The cool thing about school is sometimes you find a really amazing teacher who can excite you about anything. You can't wait until their class to see what crazy thing they will do next. Or maybe a teacher will just make you laugh the whole class. Maybe a teacher who will tell you crazy stories. I love going to a class like that. I hate a teacher who tries to be your friend or tries to be really cool. Talking in slang or saying they love the most popular T.V. show that is on at the time. That is the worst kind of teacher. I wish teachers would just teach in their own way. Not trying to do all of those stupid new better ways of teaching. Teachers are the best if they are just themselves.

The things that bug me most in life
I have decided to write about what bugs me most in life. I have narrowed it down to 8 things if you do or have these things. Please take it personally and try to change it.
1. When girls call themselves fat.
2. Fake people
3. 5 paragraph essays
4. Boys who are scared of bugs.
5. The violin
6. Strained smiles
7. Bad breath
8. Genuinely mean people
1.I hate it when girls call themselves fat! It is the most annoying thing in the world! Have you noticed that fat girls don’t call themselves fat. Only the really skinny girls with no self esteem call themselves fat. The only reason that they do it is because they want you to tell them how skinny they are. Sometimes when a girl will do this I will just look at her strait in the eye and say nothing. Or sometimes if I know the girl fairly well I will tell her to “Stop eating then.” It is quite funny to see their reactions. It is also a very effective if you want them to stop.
2.Fake people bug me a lot. All of you know fake people. Maybe you are a fake person. If you are try to change for the sake of my sanity. Most the time I can’t deal with fake people. I don’t have time to play all of their stupid fake people games. Where you know a girl hates more than she would hate sticking her head in the “porcelain unmentionable” and flushing it. But then when you see her she gives you a big hug and starts saying “We really need to hang out sometime, it’s been so long.” Then as soon as you leave she starts saying to all of her friends. “OMG did you see her hair? And her teeth, I can’t believe she would leave the house like that.” That really bugs me.
3. I hate 5 paragraph essays with a passion! They are the most boring things to write let alone read! All you do is repeat yourself over and over again. You tell them what you are going to tell them. Then you tell them. Then you tell them what you told them. Why would they even want to read it if you already told them what you are going to tell them? Then you will tell them what you told them. That is pointless they already know what you told them why do you have to tell them again?
4. I can’t stand it when a guy sees a spider and starts saying, “ugh, sick, and kill it.” I usually just want to pick it up and through it at them. When a guy sees a nasty bug they are supposed to pick it up put it in a jar and keep it as a pet. Not act like the tiny little bug is going to eat them.
5.I used to play the violin. It was the worst experience of my life. Whenever I hear the violin I get these really bad chills all over my body. I have to plug my ears or leave the room. It is really weird, but I cannot stand to hear a violin.
6.There are people I know who smile all the time. I sometimes fell bad for them because it isn’t a cute genuine smile. It is usually this strained fake grimace showing all their teeth. It looks so painful, and it is not attractive at all.
7.When people are talking to me and they have really bad breath I try to end the conversation because I can’t stand the smell of bad breath. I sometime will say to them “hey, want some gum or a mint.” A lot of times I will find the people with bad breath will say “no I don’t like gum” or “I hate having mint things.” I am not saying that I never have bad breath. Because I am sure that I do. I just hate bad breath
8Do all of you know people who are just mean for the heck of it? I do it is super sad. It is like they have to be mean to someone just to make themselves feel better. Last year I was eating lunch with some girls and they were laughing at another girl’s denim jumper. They didn’t even know this girl but they were all making fun of her. It made me sick when they went up to her and asked her where she got it. When she told them they all burst out laughing. This was a girl that had never done anything to them. They had no reason to be mean to her. I was the only girl who didn’t participate it this nasty behavior. I have no room to say anything. I easily could have said something to make them stop. Or I could have went and apologized for them after. But I didn’t. I hate people who are mean like that. I really do.
Well those are the things that bug me most in life. Wow I sound like a jerk. Sorry if I offended anyone.
